Rock Hill – September 28, 2026 -- Comporium, Inc., a communications provider serving more than 145,000 customers across the Carolinas, has named Teleste as the sole supplier of amplifiers and network management solutions for its future hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) upgrades, following a competitive RFP process.
Comporium selects 1.8 GHz-capable amplifier platform after field trial
The chosen platform combines Teleste ICON3000 line extenders and ICON4000 system amplifiers, both fitted with plug-in transponders, alongside the Teleste Argus Network Management System and Virtual Device Manager (VDM). Comporium tested the equipment directly in its own plant, using the technicians who will handle installation and maintenance.
Executives cite RF performance and installation speed as deciding factors
Mike Deller, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Planning at Comporium, said the ICON3000 and ICON4000 amplifiers exceeded the company's desired RF performance benchmarks during the trial and stood out for usability and installation speed. Brian Bendt, Vice President of Network Services and Internet Planning & Development at Comporium, said the ICON amplifiers and plug-in HMS transponders provide a standards-based foundation that integrates with the company's existing network-management workflows.
Sole-supplier status covers amplifiers, telemetry and centralized network management
The plug-in transponders on the ICON amplifiers link outside-plant telemetry to Teleste's management environment. VDM supplies the virtualized device-management layer, while Argus centralizes monitoring, alarms, diagnostics, remote control and device inventory for Comporium's operations teams.
Teleste frames the deal as validation of its full operational platform
Steve Condra, Senior Vice President of North America Sales for Teleste, said Comporium evaluated RF performance, field usability, telemetry and network management as a single operational environment rather than selecting individual products. Deployment will proceed according to Comporium's priorities as it advances high-split modernization ahead of a planned later transition to 1.8 GHz capacity.
