London – – September 07, 2026 -- Crowell & Moring has appointed Chiraag Shah as a partner in its London office, strengthening the firm's International Dispute Resolution practice with more than 25 years of high-stakes arbitration experience.

Shah brings a Chambers-ranked and Legal 500-recognized arbitration practice to Crowell

Shah joins from Morrison & Foerster's London office, where he served as Global Head of International Arbitration and Head of the Africa Desk. He previously held a partner role at Kirkland & Ellis and worked at leading law firms in Kenya before relocating to the UK.

New hire deepens Crowell's dispute capacity across Africa and MENA markets

Shah has advised on arbitration matters in Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, and regularly handles sanctions-related disputes. Meagan Bachman, chair of Crowell's International Dispute Resolution Group, said the hire combines Shah's relationships across key arbitration markets, particularly Africa and MENA, with the firm's international presence in London, Doha, and Brussels.

Firm cites expanding cross-border dispute demand as driver for the addition

Robert Weekes, managing partner of Crowell's London office, said the appointment expands the firm's capacity to advise clients on complex commercial and investor-state disputes across multiple continents amid a more challenging global business environment. Shah's arrival adds to Crowell's GAR 100-ranked arbitration practice.
