Middleborough, Mass. – September 12, 2026 -- Dacon Corporation and VMD Companies held a ceremonial cross beam signing to mark a construction milestone on indus's new 96,500-square-foot headquarters, a facility built on a decommissioned cranberry bog that required dynamic soil compaction to meet bearing requirements before construction could begin.
Indus consolidates operations with move from Braintree to Middleborough
The purpose-built headquarters will house office space for approximately 50 employees, training rooms, locker room facilities, and warehouse storage for building materials. A 14-bay maintenance and repair shop anchors the facility, designed to accommodate the oversized trucks and equipment used in indus's pavement repair operations across roads, bridges, and airports.
Design-build team used precast concrete panels to speed assembly
Dacon's design and engineering teams worked with architectural and structural partners to integrate structural and architectural elements into a single prefabricated precast concrete system for the building envelope, a choice intended to reduce risk and identify conflicts before construction. "Before a single beam could rise, our team had to engineer and transform what was once a cranberry bog into the foundation for a world-class facility," said Kevin Quinn, President and CEO of Dacon Corporation, who has worked in the industry for 41 years.
VMD's Campus at Canopy Drive adds indus to a 700,000-square-foot industrial park
Phil Down, CEO of VMD Companies, said the project represents a significant investment in the Town of Middleborough and will generate jobs and revenue for the community. The indus headquarters is being delivered as part of The Campus at Canopy Drive, a master-planned industrial campus VMD is developing that is entitled for more than 700,000 square feet of industrial space.
Dacon, indus and VMD donate $12,500 to local care organization
To mark the milestone, the three parties presented a $12,500 donation through Dacon's Designed with Dignity community giving program to Hannah B.G. Shaw Home, which provides care and services for individuals and families in need. Structural work on the headquarters is continuing, with the project team focused on the next phase of construction.
