SHERIDAN, WYOMING – August 26, 2025 – Dentsply Sirona has broadened its chairside implant portfolio with the launch of the CEREC Tessera® Abutment Block and complementary Calibra® Abutment Resin Cement. The new solution enables clinicians to fabricate hybrid abutments and fully contoured abutment crowns directly in-office, accelerating implant workflows while maintaining high esthetic and mechanical performance.
Advancing Chairside CAD/CAM Implantology
The CEREC Tessera® Abutment Block extends the company’s Advanced Lithium Disilicate (ALD) platform, already known for its strength and esthetics in CAD/CAM restorations. Designed with a pre-drilled screw access channel and anti-rotation feature, the new block supports both hybrid abutments bonded to TiBases and screw-retained hybrid abutment crowns.
Key benefits include:
- Biaxial flexural strength of more than 700 MPa, reducing risk of fractures.
- Firing cycle as short as 4.5 minutes in the CEREC SpeedFire® furnace.
- Chairside efficiency, with no glazing required—restorations are polished and dry-fired.
Streamlining Cementation with Calibra® Abutment Resin Cement
To complement the new abutment block, Dentsply Sirona introduced Calibra® Abutment Resin Cement, engineered for extraoral cementation of crowns and abutments to TiBases. Its high bond strength, ultra-opaque shade, and compatibility with sterilization processes make it suitable for a wide range of implant workflows. The cement is designed for easy clean-up, minimizing chairside time and reducing risk of cross-contamination.
Clinical Value for Dentists and Patients
For clinicians, chairside control translates to fewer patient visits, lower lab costs, and a more predictable implant restoration process. Patients benefit from faster turnaround and highly esthetic results tailored to their anatomy.
Dr. Holger Hüttemann of Bühlertal, Germany, highlighted the efficiency advantage: “CEREC Tessera® convinced me with its physical properties since its market launch. The fact that it is now also available as a meso block gives me the opportunity to use the material more in the chairside restoration of implants. The fast-processing time is a real benefit.”
Positioning Within Digital Dentistry Trends
The new offering reflects a broader shift toward digital implantology, where same-day solutions are increasingly in demand. Competitors have pushed similar innovations, but Dentsply Sirona’s integration of CAD/CAM software, advanced ceramics, and workflow-specific cementation positions it as a strong player in this fast-growing segment. The company notes that the system is compatible with many popular implant systems starting with CEREC software version 5.2.9.
Strategic Industry Implications
By reducing turnaround times and enhancing restorative durability, the launch strengthens Dentsply Sirona’s standing in the competitive implant market. For dental service organizations and group practices, the solution offers ROI through increased throughput and reduced reliance on external labs. For hospitals and clinics expanding in-office implantology, it provides a streamlined, fully integrated pathway from scanning to final placement.
