Shanghai – September 17, 2026 -- DFRobot opened preorders for seeMote Cap, a $229 mountable spatial tracking module for Apple Vision Pro developers, with first units shipping in late September 2026.
Device attaches to existing tools instead of requiring custom controllers
seeMote Cap mounts directly onto tools engineers already use, including screwdrivers, lab instruments, training devices, and teaching models. Its 6DoF tracking captures the position, orientation, and motion of the attached tool, letting developers map real-world movements into visionOS app logic while preserving the original grip and workflow.
Launch demo targets orthopedic training simulation
DFRobot demonstrated the module mounted on an orthopedic training drill in a non-clinical visionOS simulation, showing how the tool's spatial data feeds into a tool-aware training workflow. The company positions the product for four use cases: industrial maintenance and assembly training, non-clinical medical simulation, interactive lab and teaching instruments, and vocational skills assessment.
Product ships with open developer resources for visionOS integration
seeMote Cap supports Apple's Spatial Accessory API and includes .referenceaccessory files, USDZ models, Apple Vision Pro sample code, and Swift SDK support, all published on the DFRobot Wiki. Chunxiao Liu, Product Manager at DFRobot, said the design goal was to let developers keep familiar tools while adding spatial tracking rather than requiring teams to learn a new controller.
