Stockholm – September 21, 2026 --
Fredrik Rystedt, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Essity, has notified the company of his intention to retire during 2027, triggering an immediate search for his successor.
Rystedt exits after more than nine years steering Essity's finances
Rystedt has served as CFO and Executive Vice President at Essity for over nine years. He will remain in his current role until a successor is appointed and an orderly handover is completed, the company said.
Essity launches succession process without a set timeline
The process of appointing a new CFO began immediately following Rystedt's announcement, though Essity has not disclosed a specific target date for naming a replacement. Ulrika Kolsrud, President and CEO of Essity, said Rystedt has made significant contributions to the company's value creation and financial strength, and that she looks forward to continuing to work closely with him on profitable growth and strategic priorities until a successor is in place.
Company frames departure as planned transition, not abrupt exit
Rystedt described his tenure as a privilege, noting the company strengthened its financial position and built a platform for continued profitable growth during his time in the role. He said he intends to keep contributing fully and ensure a smooth transition before departing.
