Taipei – October 13, 2026 -- Gemtek Technology, Qualcomm Technologies and gFiber are targeting commercial deployment in 2027 for an AI-native Wi-Fi 8 broadband gateway, with gFiber set to be the first operator to roll it out. Gemtek is showing the device at Network X 2026.
Gateway runs on Qualcomm's Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite platform
Gemtek engineered the gateway on the Qualcomm Dragonwing NPro A8 Elite Platform. It combines Wi-Fi 8 Quad-Band connectivity with Edge AI computing. Software comes from Genix Networks, a Gemtek subsidiary.
The device is designed as a home internet hub and a local platform for agentic AI. It supports network optimization, device awareness, security and proactive management.
Local processing targets privacy and cloud dependence
Subscribers can manage their home network and access supported services through natural-language voice commands. Processing supported requests locally is intended to protect privacy, improve responsiveness and reduce reliance on the cloud.
Genix software links the gateway, connected devices and the network through an AI-driven interface. Through voice-controlled application integration, users can ask about device activity, performance and security, and trigger supported actions.
Three partners split platform, product and subscriber roles
Qualcomm supplies the connectivity and AI platform technologies. Gemtek leads product and AI system innovation, integrating hardware and Genix software into a carrier-grade gateway. gFiber defines the subscriber experience.
The three companies are exploring a broadband model that integrates technology, product and AI system innovation, and service experience, from the platform level through to the subscriber.
Gemtek also recasts customer premises equipment (CPE) as a design-led living-room device rather than a hidden box. Gemtek CEO James Lee described the project as an integration challenge as much as a technology challenge, aimed at a product operators can deploy and subscribers can use daily.
