GS1 Germany Presents ECR Award to Industry Leaders in Bonn

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 18, 2024 – GS1 Germany recently honored outstanding collaborative projects in the retail industry with its prestigious Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) Award. The award ceremony, held in Bonn, recognized companies for their innovative and collaborative approaches to optimizing processes within value networks, ultimately enhancing consumer satisfaction.

The ECR Award Categories

The ECR Award is presented in three categories: Collaboration Excellence, Innovation Excellence, and Sustainability Excellence.

ECR Collaboration Excellence Award 2024

This year, the Collaboration Excellence award was presented to ALDI Süd, the Züchtungsinitiative Niederelbe (ZIN), and the Hochschule Osnabrück for their joint efforts in introducing an exclusive apple variety. The project involved planting several hundred thousand trees and establishing a comprehensive marketing concept with guaranteed purchase quantities for the premium brand "ALDIamo."

ECR Innovation Excellence Award 2024

Markant and Mondelēz International received the Innovation Excellence award for developing a prototype that uses generative artificial intelligence to create channel- and target-group-specific product descriptions. The "Product Wizard" utilizes approved data from the data pool, images, and quality attributes to generate unique and engaging product descriptions.

ECR Sustainability Excellence Award 2024

The Sustainability Excellence award was granted to Dirk Rossmann GmbH, Beiersdorf AG, Procter & Gamble Service GmbH, and Unilever Deutschland GmbH for their innovative and sustainable permanent display concept. This modular display seamlessly integrates into the flow of goods, optimizes transport logistics, and conserves resources.
