Half of Temu's European Sellers Report Hiring Surge, Survey Finds

Dublin -- September 01, 2026 -- Half of 152 European merchants surveyed by Temu said they expanded production capacity or hired new staff since joining the e-commerce platform, according to the Temu Small Business Insights Report 2026. The online survey ran in June and July 2026 among sellers in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom. One in three respondents said they expanded into new international markets after starting to sell on Temu, which has opened its Local Seller Program to businesses in more than 35 markets since 2024.

Three-quarters of respondents described Temu as either a key additional sales channel or their primary one. Forty-three percent said their business had operated for more than ten years before joining the platform. On platform choice, 38% cited the ease of use of Temu's seller tools, 35% pointed to its cost structure, and 65% said they valued having a dedicated point of contact.

Spanish parts retailer Recamania fills 4,000 orders a month

Recamania, a family-run auto parts business in Albacete operating for more than 40 years, opened its Temu shop in March 2025 after struggling to build an online channel. Orders reached 4,000 per month shortly after launch, prompting the company to expand its warehouse and administrative teams. Natalia Collado Castillo, 26, joined the firm as part of that hiring round.

Leeds retailer adds 20 warehouse jobs after one million orders

Money Cruncher, trading online as Spot On-Line, has processed more than one million orders since starting on Temu in early 2025. The Leeds-based company created more than 20 warehouse positions over the past 18 months to handle the added volume.

French founders quit day jobs after selling 1,400 packages without ads

Mathis Rouchouze and Charles Jeuffrain launched their ube-powder brand Ubedia on Temu in September 2025 from Aix-en-Provence. The company sold more than 1,400 packages within weeks without running paid promotions on the platform, allowing both founders to leave their previous jobs. Ubedia now employs six people across production, shipping and marketing and is investing in automated packaging equipment while planning further hires.

Cross-border access extends to sellers in nine EU countries

Since early 2026, Temu sellers based in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Belgium, Poland and France have been able to sell beyond the EU single market into the United Kingdom, Iceland and Switzerland, with additional cross-border markets planned.

Antonino Quaranta, owner of Italian specialty food business SD Calabria, said his customer base previously consisted mainly of Italian expatriates abroad. Since joining Temu, orders now arrive under Spanish, German, Dutch, Polish, Austrian, Irish, Danish and Czech names, giving the family firm reach across Europe without separate marketing campaigns in each country.

Austrian leatherwear brand Alpenlife, founded in St. Johann in 2013 by Vasileios Malakontas, began selling on Temu in early 2025. Germany has since become the company's largest market after Austria, followed by Switzerland and the Benelux region. Malakontas reported a roughly 35% increase in product views and orders since launch.

German manufacturer AMF Creation, in business for 15 years, said Temu's onboarding process and real-time sales data helped it adjust its online strategy faster than before. Founder Marcus Fochler said the data let the company react immediately when a product or campaign underperformed.

Temu has operated in Europe since April 2023 and is now active in more than 90 markets globally, offering products across more than 700 categories. In the first half of 2026 alone, Temu representatives held more than 100 meetings with trade associations and industry groups across Europe, where recurring concerns centered on e-commerce complexity, software and logistics costs, and lack of onboarding support for new platforms.
