HEIDELBERG Celebrates 175 Years with Launch of Industry’s Largest Customer Experience Center

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – June 3, 2025 – Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) has marked a major milestone with the celebration of its 175th anniversary, unveiling the newly redesigned Print Media Center (PMC) – now branded the Home of Print – at its Wiesloch-Walldorf site in Germany. The week-long event welcomed more than 1,500 international guests and reinforced the company’s position as a comprehensive systems integrator in the global printing industry.

Home of Print: Strategic Showcase for Growth and Innovation

The new Home of Print is not only the industry's largest customer demonstration center but also a core component of HEIDELBERG’s long-term growth strategy. The center consolidates the company’s end-to-end solutions across packaging, label, and commercial printing into one cohesive environment.

Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG, opened the celebrations, stating: “A warm welcome to HEIDELBERG and a warm welcome to our Home of Print, the printing industry’s largest customer experience center anywhere in the world. We have now been the Home of Print for 175 years!”

Bertram Kawlath, President of the VDMA Association, added: “175 years of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen stand for outstanding innovative strength and unparalleled customer focus. As VDMA, we honor this success story, which impressively demonstrates how mechanical engineering companies from Germany and Europe set standards worldwide – yesterday, today and in the future.”

Integrated Demonstration of Future-Ready Solutions

The Home of Print integrates HEIDELBERG’s entire portfolio into a unified digital ecosystem. Customer demonstrations feature complete production systems in collaboration with partners like Polar and MK Masterwork, including:

  • Folding carton production with the Speedmaster series
  • Web printing via the Boardmaster flexographic system
  • Label production using offset, digital, and flexographic processes
  • Hybrid print workflows combining digital and offset technologies

Incorporated into these solutions is the Prinect software suite, with a dedicated data lab on-site that provides case studies showing how HEIDELBERG leverages analytics to help customers improve operational efficiency and performance.

Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG, emphasized: “Our Home of Print reflects our growth strategy for our core business, which showcases HEIDELBERG as a collaborative total solution provider and end-to-end systems integrator for packaging and commercial printing. This is unique in the industry.”

Expanding the Packaging Portfolio with VLF Technology

In conjunction with the anniversary, HEIDELBERG launched the Cartonmaster CX 145, expanding into the very large format (VLF, format class 6) segment. This addition targets the high-volume folding carton sector, particularly for food, beverage, and consumer goods packaging.

Also on display is the Mastermatrix CSB 106 die cutter, introduced at drupa 2024. Operating at 9,000 sheets per hour, it will be integrated into Prinect and other system components to deliver full end-to-end productivity.

Advancing Industrial Digital Printing with New Partnerships

HEIDELBERG is further strengthening its industrial digital printing capabilities by incorporating postpress solutions from C.P. Bourg and Tecnau into the Jetfire 50 ecosystem. This gives customers access to inline and nearline finishing options with seamless support through HEIDELBERG’s unified platform of sales, software, and consulting. Additionally, the Stahlfolder Fireline offers advanced solutions for cut and folded products, complementing the Jetfire workflow.

Personalized Customer Engagement on a Global Scale

Spanning 9,000 square meters, the Home of Print hosts approximately 1,000 tailored customer presentations annually, supported by a team of 120 HEIDELBERG experts. Customers bring their own jobs to test on-site, gaining hands-on experience with the technology. The site also facilitates:

  • Open house events for domestic and international audiences
  • 100+ guided tours for institutions and industry professionals
  • Continuous internal training for HEIDELBERG’s global service teams

Beyond Wiesloch-Walldorf, HEIDELBERG operates demonstration centers across the USA, China, Japan, Indonesia, and Switzerland.

Positioning for the Future with a Legacy of Excellence

With a 175-year legacy, HEIDELBERG continues to lead in mechanical engineering, driving advancements in packaging, digital printing, software integration, and green technologies. The company's global footprint spans 170 countries with 9,500 employees, delivering innovation through dedicated production hubs in Europe, China, and the U.S.
