Helfie AI Names John Rego CFO After $10B in Capital Raises

Melbourne, Australia – September 07, 2026 -- Helfie AI has appointed John Rego as Chief Financial Officer, bringing a track record of raising more than $10 billion in capital and closing over two dozen M&A transactions across six public and private companies.

Rego joins Helfie from Wide Open West following the US broadband provider's 2026 sale

Rego served as CFO of Wide Open West (NYSE: WOW) from 2020 until the company was sold in 2026. The appointment gives Helfie AI, a Melbourne-based AI-powered preventative healthcare platform, a finance chief with direct experience managing a company through to a market exit.

Rego's prior CFO roles span advertising technology, aerospace and telecoms

Before WOW, Rego held the CFO position at Telaria Inc (NASDAQ: TLRA), an advertising technology firm, and previously served as CFO of Virgin Galactic and of Vonage Holdings (NYSE: VG). Across his 25-year career, he has built finance functions from early-stage startups through to initial public offerings.

Helfie CEO George Tomeski cites Rego's public-market discipline as key to the company's next growth phase

George Tomeski, CEO of Helfie AI, said Rego has taken companies from startup to IPO, navigated major M&A transactions and operated at the highest levels of public market scrutiny. Rego said he was joining at an exciting phase of growth for the company, describing Helfie AI's mission and market opportunity as genuinely aligned.

Helfie AI's platform delivers more than 30 health checks via smartphone, positioning itself to serve a global user base as it works with governments and businesses on preventative healthcare access.
