Helix Takes 527K-Participant Genomic Screening Data to ASHG Plenary

San Mateo – October 19, 2026 -- Helix will present three-year outcomes from CDC Tier 1 genomic screening of 527,000 participants at the opening plenary of the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) 2026 Annual Meeting, held October 20-24 in Montreal. The company says its GenoSphereTM resource now holds more than 620,000 paired EHR, claims and genomics records.

Helix Research Network supplies the plenary data from 17 health systems

The plenary study draws on the Helix Research Network (HRN), which Helix describes as the world's largest precision health network. All 17 member health systems offer CDC Tier 1 primary screening to every patient who enrolls in research. The study examines how surfacing previously undiagnosed genetic risk can improve screening and preventive care across diverse health systems.

Cassie Hajek, MD, Medical Director, will deliver the talk on Tuesday, October 20, from 5:57 to 6:15 p.m. ET in Room 517.

Kidney study tracks 3.4 million eGFR measurements across 13 health systems

Matt Levy, PhD, will present a platform talk on October 21 at 11:45 a.m. ET. It uses multi-state Markov analysis of 3.4 million serial eGFR measurements to quantify distinct genetic architectures of kidney function decline.

GLP1R variant data distinguishes semaglutide from tirzepatide response

Kelly Schiabor Barrett, PhD, will report on October 22 at 1:45 p.m. ET that rare GLP1R variants selectively attenuate weight loss with semaglutide but not tirzepatide. The abstract implicates GIP receptor agonism as a compensatory mechanism.

Seven posters cover dementia, liver disease, pharmacogenomics and proteomics

Two posters run Thursday, October 22, from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. ET in the Exhibit & Poster Hall:

  • Poster 8202T (Lisa McEwen, PhD): APOE genotype shapes the trajectory from mild cognitive impairment to dementia.
  • Poster 6006T (Megan Ramaker, PhD): ApoB isoform-specific mechanisms of liver disease in heterozygous pLoF carriers across three population cohorts.

Four posters run Friday, October 23, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. ET:

  • Poster 2002F (Teresa Kruisselbrink, MS): cumulative pharmacogenomic variant burden is associated with polypharmacy, treatment inefficacy and adverse drug events.
  • Poster 8093F (Lorena Mora-Blanco, PhD): plasma proteomic signatures of kidney disease within APOL1 genotype strata.
  • Poster 8294F (Liz Cirulli, PhD): plasma proteomics identifies a preclinical cardiomyopathy signature in pathogenic variant carriers without a clinical diagnosis.
  • Late-breaking Poster 4005F (Natalie Telis, PhD): CYP2C19 pharmacogenomic testing and intervention reverses the excess hospitalization trend among patients taking clopidogrel.
Helix frames HRN as a learning system for clinical translation

William Lee, PhD, Chief Science and Product Officer, said the network pairs large-scale genomic research with the ability to put findings into clinical practice and measure real-world outcomes. Helix will staff booth #1200 at the meeting.
