New York – September 22, 2026 -- Métaphores, the French textile Maison within Hermès' textile division, will launch its first U.S. designer-led showroom partnership on October 7, 2026, debuting a furniture textile capsule called Fragments at Lemieux et Cie in SoHo.
Métaphores enters U.S. furniture market through New York showroom deal
The collaboration marks Métaphores' first partnership with a U.S. designer-led showroom and the American debut of Fragments applied to furniture. The Maison, which draws on the century-old expertise of Verel de Belval in furnishing silks and Le Crin in handwoven horsehair, will place fabrics on sofas, accent chairs, benches, Pierre Jeanneret dining chairs, pillows and full-height drapery throughout the SoHo space.
Textile capsule combines wool, cotton and linen with bouclé and slub-yarn textures
Fragments uses natural and technical fibers, including wool, cotton and linen, in woven constructions designed to capture, filter or diffuse light. The line features supple bouclé textures, chromatic accents and oversized slub yarns that create surface relief.
Partnership rests on shared neuroaesthetics approach to material and light
Christiane Lemieux, founder and creative director of Lemieux et Cie, said the collaboration formed after she and Émilie Paralitici, creation and image director of Métaphores, independently arrived at similar conclusions about how weight, warmth and density shape perception of a room beyond pure visual appearance. Métaphores approaches textiles starting from fiber and construction, while Lemieux et Cie approaches furniture through design history and a collector's perspective.
Showroom will carry Métaphores fabrics for ongoing upholstery projects
Beyond the October 7 launch, Métaphores fabrics will remain available at Lemieux et Cie's SoHo location at 161 Grand Street for upholstery and interior design projects. The showroom operates Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from noon to 6 p.m.
