Boston – September 08, 2026 -- HoneyNaps has developed a wireless polysomnography (PSG) system that replaces more than 24 wired sensors with four compact skin patches, combining patch-based sensing with AI-driven sleep analysis.
System consolidates dozens of wired sensors into four wearable patches
Conventional PSG, the standard diagnostic test for sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, typically requires patients to spend a night in a hospital wired to more than 24 sensors placed across the face, chest, abdomen and legs. HoneyNaps' Wireless PSG system instead uses a Head Sensor, Chest Sensor, Body Sensor and Leg Sensor to capture EEG, EOG, ECG, EMG, respiratory airflow, SpO2, body position and physical activity without cables.
Six-layer flexible circuit design targets medical-grade signal accuracy
The patches incorporate a six-layer flexible printed circuit board, an integrated analog-to-digital converter and sensor architecture, wireless noise-reduction technology and electrostatic discharge protection to maintain signal quality during extended monitoring. A low-power design is intended to support use in both hospital settings and future home-based PSG testing.
SOMNUM software automates sleep-stage and apnea-event scoring
Sensor data feed into SOMNUM, HoneyNaps' AI-powered sleep analysis platform, which automatically scores sleep stages, apnea events, arousals and periodic limb movements. The software uses edge-computing technology to process physiological data in real time and supports integration with centralized hospital management systems, aiming to reduce the labor-intensive manual scoring traditionally required for sleep studies.
Platform builds on prior sleep-sensing technologies for home testing expansion
The Wireless PSG system extends HoneyNaps' existing portfolio, which includes SOMNUM Scanning, a contactless sleep-sensing pad, single-channel EEG technology, AI-based diagnostic software and a digital therapeutic for insomnia.
