Calgary – September 25, 2026 -- Horizon Petroleum Ltd. (TSXV: HPL; FRA/Tradegate: HPM) said its wholly owned Polish subsidiary, Energia Karpaty Zachodnie sp. z o.o., has completed acid stimulation at the Lachowice 7 well in southern Poland and begun production testing, with preliminary flowback rates reaching 5.5 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.
Well begins flowing naturally after nitrogen-assisted unload
Following the acid stimulation, a coiled tubing unit was installed and nitrogen was circulated into the production tubing to unload the well. At approximately 06:30 CET, L7 began flowing gas and condensate naturally without further coiled tubing or nitrogen assistance and continues to flow.
Flowback rate hits 5.5 MMcf/d at 2,500 PSI through 28/64-inch choke
The preliminary rate was recorded at a flowing wellhead pressure of approximately 2,500 pounds per square inch through a 28/64-inch choke. Horizon cautioned the well remains in cleanup and the figures are subject to change as it stabilizes.
Workover fluids, including lost circulation water and stimulation acid, are being recovered
A significant volume of water was lost into the formation during the mechanical portion of the workover. That water, together with the stimulation acid, is now surfacing through the production testing equipment alongside gas and condensate, a process the company described as a normal part of well cleanup.
Company plans 24-36 hours of variable-rate flow before shut-in and logging
Horizon expects to continue flowing L7 at variable rates for roughly 24 to 36 hours until gas and liquid rates and pressures stabilize. The well will then be shut in to build pressure, followed by a production logging operation to identify reservoir inflow points, before proceeding to the main flow and pressure build-up testing program.
Well previously tested at up to 8.9 MMcf/d by prior operators
Based on well reports in Horizon's possession, L7 was tested by previous operators at rates of up to 8.9 MMcf/d in 1994, and sustained a roughly two-week flow period at approximately 3.0 MMcf/d in 1999. The current program is designed to assess reservoir performance, inflow distribution, pressure behaviour and sustainable production potential following the workover.
Local media and residents track flare visible from surrounding towns
The start of flow testing drew notable attention in the surrounding area, with the well flare visible from nearby towns and local media covering the event.
Horizon said final conclusions on the well's deliverability will follow completion of the planned flow and pressure build-up testing, and that current cleanup-phase rates should not be interpreted as representative of stabilized or long-term production.
