Shanghai – – September 20, 2026 -- Huawei Digital Power unveiled a full-stack portfolio of grid-forming and AI-integrated energy solutions at the 4th International Digital Energy Expo, held September 15-17 in Shanghai, covering utility-scale PV, energy storage, microgrids, EV charging and AI data centers.
Utility PV solution debuts industry's first 1000VAC and grid-forming string inverter
The FusionSolar9.0 Utility PV Solution introduced what Huawei calls the industry's first 1000VAC architecture, first grid-forming string inverter, and largest 11MW smart transformer station. On September 10, 2026, Huawei's Smart I-V Curve Diagnosis solution became the first in the industry to pass the L5 certification, the highest level, from China General Certification Center.
Grid-forming ESS platform delivers six plant-level stability capabilities
Huawei's new Smart String Grid Forming ESS Solution combines a 1000VAC smart string architecture with through-busbar design, supporting a 12.5 MW/50 MWh array configuration the company describes as the industry's optimal ratio. Six plant-level functions—short-circuit capacity support, inertia response, wideband oscillation damping, primary frequency regulation, black start, and seamless on/off-grid switching—are built into the system to maintain grid stability under all operating conditions.
Smart Microgrid Solution cuts on/off-grid switching time to 40 milliseconds
Targeting regions with no or insufficient electricity access, the Smart Microgrid Solution supports PQ/VSG mode switching and a grid-forming state-of-charge range of 5% to 98%. Medium-voltage switching between on-grid and off-grid modes occurs in 40 ms, while the system allows parallel operation of multiple voltage sources with storage and generator sets.
C&I storage unit hits 91.8% round-trip efficiency with hybrid cooling
Huawei's 241 kWh series C&I Hybrid Cooling Grid Forming ESS Solution replaces single-mode cooling with a smart hybrid architecture and adds “pack-level optimization 2.0” technology. The unit achieves a round-trip efficiency of 91.8% and 100% depth of discharge, which Huawei states exceeds industry averages. The broader C&I One-Fits-All Solution spans PV-only, ESS-only, PV+ESS, charger+ESS and virtual power plant configurations.
FusionCharge network integration lifts station revenue by over 15%
Huawei FusionCharge combines PV, storage and chargers into a smart microgrid for passenger and commercial vehicles. AI-based scheduling, paired with dual grid-device protection and air-liquid cooling, is reported to increase charging station revenue by more than 15%, with deployments planned across logistics, urban and highway corridors.
Grid-interactive AI data center design targets higher tokens-per-watt output
Huawei's grid-interactive AIDC architecture applies a "3+1" innovation model combining a MIMO power architecture—featuring grid-friendly UPS and storage—with AI-enabled megawatt-level liquid cooling. The company positions the design to maximize compute output per watt while maintaining full-link visibility and reliability across the data center lifecycle.
