Preview Global Sports and Leisure Infrastructure Gears Up for FSB 2025 in Cologne

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 21, 2025 – The upcoming FSB 2025, the International Trade Fair for Public Space, Sports, and Leisure Facilities, is set to highlight the latest innovations in playground and activity area design from October 28–31, 2025, in Cologne. Hall 9 will once again serve as a central hub for exhibitors and planners focusing on inclusive, sustainable, and future-oriented playground solutions.

A Platform for Sustainable and Inclusive Public Spaces
This year’s edition of FSB emphasizes two key themes shaping public space and recreation facility design: ecological sustainability and inclusion. Both will be strongly reflected in the exhibition concepts, product showcases, and professional programs. From sensory play to carbon footprint reduction, exhibitors aim to demonstrate how playground design can promote environmental responsibility while ensuring accessibility for all.

Expert Insights at PlanerFORUM: Designing the Future of Play
The popular PlanerFORUM returns to Hall 9, offering four days of expert-led sessions that explore the intersections of design, functionality, and inclusion. Co-organized by the German Association of Landscape Architects (bdla NRW) and the German Federal Association for Playground and Leisure Equipment (BSFH), the sessions will examine critical topics such as:

  • Water use in playgrounds and public spaces
  • Inclusive design for playgrounds and activity areas
  • Transforming schoolyards into movement-friendly spaces

Koelnmesse and Playground@Landscape magazine will also contribute with dedicated lecture programs. Presentations will be delivered in German, and wireless headsets will ensure an optimal listening experience in the busy exhibition hall. Participation in most lectures is free, creating an accessible knowledge-sharing platform for urban planners, architects, and equipment manufacturers.

Inclusive Design Comes to Life in a Walkable Showcase
Visitors can experience inclusion first-hand in the “STADT und RAUM” section of Hall 9, where a specially designed interactive area demonstrates accessible playground concepts. Through guided tours, informative displays, and hands-on activities, attendees can explore how inclusive planning translates into real-world design. Exhibitors will feature equipment specifically engineered for accessibility, highlighting how play spaces can support diverse physical and cognitive abilities.

Exhibitor Highlights: Innovation and Engagement on Display
Hall 9 will feature a wide array of product launches and experiential exhibits that embody the future of playground and activity space innovation:

  • Kaiser & Kühne Freizeitgeräte GmbH will present over 300 sqm of new playground equipment and inclusive design concepts, including a 17-meter zipline for live demonstrations.
  • HUCK Seiltechnik GmbH will showcase barrier-free play solutions and its new Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) tool, which calculates the environmental impact of individual products.

Marketplace Play & Exercise: Connecting Professionals Across the Industry
Following its success in 2023, the Marketplace Play & Exercise returns as the main networking hub in Hall 9. Organized by Playground@Landscape, this area fosters direct engagement between manufacturers, planners, and decision-makers. Companies such as Ernst Maier Spielplatzgeräte GmbH, Fritz Müller GmbH, and Playparc GmbH will showcase their latest developments. Additionally, eleven planning firms will host booths offering personalized consultations and lectures on emerging industry trends.

A Global Meeting Point for Public Space Innovation
Beyond Hall 9, Halls 10.1 and 10.2 will feature a comprehensive international lineup, bringing together manufacturers, designers, and municipal planners from across Europe and beyond. The fair’s wide-ranging program, inclusive design focus, and sustainability initiatives make it an essential event for professionals shaping the future of public play and recreation environments.
