San Francisco – September 23, 2026 -- Instacart (Nasdaq: CART) and Dollar General Corporation (NYSE: DG) have launched a partnership to offer same-day delivery of the discount retailer's products through the Instacart App and website, with plans to scale to roughly 20,000 stores across 48 states this fall.
Pilot program covers 7,000 stores in six states before national expansion
The rollout begins with a pilot at approximately 7,000 Dollar General and pOpshelf stores in six states, with delivery available in as fast as one hour. Customers will be able to order food and snacks, household essentials, and health and beauty products through the platform.
Dollar General becomes one of over 2,200 retail banners on Instacart Marketplace
The partnership adds Dollar General to Instacart's roster of national and local retail banners, which already exceeds 2,200. Ryan Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer at Instacart, said the deal expands access to affordable food and everyday essentials for communities nationwide as the companies scale to approximately 20,000 stores.
Dollar General cites time savings and convenience as drivers for the deal
Tony Rogers, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Dollar General, said the partnership gives customers another way to access affordable food and household essentials while saving time. The expansion to 20,000 stores is planned for this fall, following the initial pilot phase.
