Melbourne – September 16, 2026 -- IonOpticks has released Aurora Series 5, a nano-LC column platform that sustained over 10,000 unique protein identifications across more than 1,000 injections in extended laboratory testing, without a rise in backpressure beyond 1,400 runs.

Testing was conducted on a Thermo Scientific Vanquish Neo UHPLC coupled to an Orbitrap Astral Zoom mass spectrometer. IonOpticks says the results allow laboratories to run nanoflow-level depth and sensitivity as a routine, high-throughput workflow rather than reserving it for select experiments.

The updated nanoZero union provides a more consistent electrical connection to liquid passing through the column, supporting spray stability over large sample cohorts while simplifying column setup. On both the Thermo Scientific Vanquish Neo/Orbitrap Astral Zoom and Bruker nanoElute 2/timsTOF HT platforms, extended injection series showed no spray dropouts, with consistent signal maintained throughout testing.

Coefficients of variation stay below 1% for median protein and peptide identifications across batches

IonOpticks reports this reproducibility holds across column-to-column and batch-to-batch testing, supporting consistent performance across a column's service life. Chief Executive Officer Xavier Perronnet said Series 5 combines the platform's established depth and sensitivity with "a new level of robustness, giving laboratories the confidence to use these columns routinely across demanding workflows."

NanoShield trap column pairing cuts sample loading times and adds contamination protection

When combined with IonOpticks' NanoShield C18 trap column, Series 5 gains additional protection against sample-derived contamination while reducing sample loading times, further extending column life. Aurora Series 5 replaces Series 4 with availability starting September 15, 2026

IonOpticks will retain limited Series 4 stock during the transition period to support continuity for existing customers and ongoing studies. Aurora Series 5 with CoreJet integrated emitter technology becomes available across the full range from September 15, 2026, directly from IonOpticks and through its global distribution network.
