Riyadh – October 10, 2026 -- KAPSARC will send more than 20 leaders, researchers and experts to the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh as a National Partner, with a presence across the Executive, Technical, Synergy and Special Programmes.

Congress runs 11 to 15 October 2026 in Saudi Arabia for the first time

The Congress, themed "Pathways to an Energy Future for All," was first held in London in 1933. It will convene government leaders, industry executives, policymakers, researchers and innovators to examine global energy systems, from security and investment to technology and sustainability.

KAPSARC President Fahad Alajlan and Dr. Ghadah Alarifi, Dean of the KAPSARC School of Public Policy, are among the Center's speakers in the Executive Programme.

KAPSARC leads generative AI session on oil-market analysis

In the Special Programme, KAPSARC runs a Knowledge Sprint titled "Generative AI for Evidence-Based Oil Markets." The session covers AI-assisted data workflows, econometric and scenario analysis, responsible AI practices, and the translation of technical findings into decision-ready insights.

KAPSARC also takes part in the World Café with a session on "Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies." The discussion addresses direct air capture, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, and biochar. It also covers the economic, infrastructure, regulatory, carbon-market and regional factors shaping their deployment.

Synergy Programme sessions target circular carbon economy and AI partnerships

KAPSARC experts contribute to two Synergy Programme discussions: "Accelerating the Circular Carbon Economy Through Joint Action" and "AI Partnerships for Energy Innovation."

Across the Congress, its experts address energy supply and demand, energy access, natural gas, ESG and governance, the Circular Carbon Economy, artificial intelligence, mobility, and lower-emission pathways for refining and petrochemicals.

Five-hub pavilion showcases research and policy tools

KAPSARC's dedicated pavilion is organized around five thematic hubs: Oil, Transportation, Clean Energy, AI and Collaboration. The hubs present research, analytical tools and expertise, and provide a channel for engagement with policymakers, industry leaders and researchers.

The pavilion also hosts the KAPSARC School of Public Policy (KSPP) and the Saudi Energy Leaders Assembly (SELA), which serve policy education and leadership development.
