Kong Unveils AI Connectivity Roadmap for Kong Konnect Platform

San Francisco – September 30, 2026 -- Kong Inc. has unveiled a roadmap of six new capabilities for its Kong Konnect platform, aiming to give enterprises unified governance over AI agents, models and APIs across on-premises, edge and cloud environments.

Kong adds six capabilities spanning agent connectivity, credentials and cost control

Announced at the API + AI Summit, the roadmap includes a Webhook Engine for event-driven integration, a Registry & Catalog for discovering AI agents and MCP assets, and a Token Vault that brokers downstream credentials for AI agents without exposing them directly. It also adds Context Mesh to connect agents to enterprise tools at scale, AI Cost Management within the AI Gateway to track spend origin and drivers, and Advanced AI Observability to monitor and troubleshoot AI conversations.

CEO frames strategy around 'strategic portability' across models and infrastructure

"We believe enterprises shouldn't have to choose between innovation and control, or between flexibility and governance," said Augusto Marietti, CEO and co-founder of Kong Inc. The company positions the roadmap as a single governance model that allows enterprises to switch between proprietary and open-weight models, or shift infrastructure, without rebuilding their governance layer.

Platform targets fragmented AI tooling across enterprise environments

Kong describes the offering as addressing what it calls the full "connectivity journey" of an AI agent — invocation, access to tools and data, credentialing, and end-to-end governance and observability. The company says the combined capabilities replace fragmented tooling and disconnected workflows with a self-service pathway for building and operating agentic applications.
