La Caisse Buys 24% of India's Altius Towers for CAD 1.76B

Montreal and Mumbai – September 07, 2026 -- Global investment group La Caisse has completed a transaction to acquire a 24% stake in Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust, India's largest independent telecom tower platform, for approximately INR 121 billion (CAD 1.76 billion).

La Caisse joins Brookfield as institutional partner in India's top tower operator

The deal places La Caisse alongside Brookfield, which remains Altius' largest investor, and existing shareholders affiliated with GIC and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI). The investment gives La Caisse exposure to a platform that owns and operates more than 258,000 telecom towers and sites across India.

Altius infrastructure underpins 4G and 5G rollout across India's mobile market

Altius provides the physical infrastructure that enables mobile operators to deliver 4G and 5G services nationwide. India ranks as the world's second-largest telecommunications market, with rising mobile data consumption and 5G adoption driving demand for additional tower capacity.

Brookfield's Sam Pollock says new capital reflects confidence in platform's scale

"Altius has built a scaled, nationwide platform that is in a leading position to meet India's demand for mobile connectivity and 5G infrastructure," said Sam Pollock, CEO of Brookfield's Infrastructure group. "La Caisse's investment brings another long-term institutional partner to the platform and reflects confidence in the strength of the business."

Emmanuel Jaclot, Executive Vice-President and Head of Infrastructure and Sustainability at La Caisse, said the firm's prior experience investing in telecom towers and digital infrastructure globally informed its decision to enter the Indian market through an established operator alongside Brookfield and other institutional partners.
