Lambda Signs White House Pledge on Data Center Ratepayer Protection

San Francisco – September 17, 2026 -- Lambda, Inc., the AI cloud infrastructure provider known as the Superintelligence Cloud, has signed the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, committing to shield local electricity consumers from costs tied to its data center buildout.

Lambda commits to paying for its own power consumption

Under the pledge, Lambda backs policies requiring data center developers to cover the electricity their facilities consume rather than shifting costs to residential ratepayers. The company said it supports expanding grid generation capacity and maintaining reliable electric service as AI infrastructure demand accelerates nationally.

CEO ties community trust to long-term facility value

"When developed responsibly, data centers can do more than power the technologies of the future, they can create lasting economic opportunities and investments in the communities where they operate," said Michel Combes, Chief Executive Officer of Lambda. Combes said trust with host communities builds over time and companies must demonstrate a facility's value continuously.

Company integrates community planning from project outset

Lambda said it incorporates community considerations into infrastructure planning from the earliest project stages, coordinating directly with local partners. The firm also stated it invests in technologies aimed at reducing local resource demands associated with its data center operations.

Move comes amid rising scrutiny of AI power demand

Lambda, founded in 2012, serves tens of thousands of customers ranging from AI researchers to hyperscalers with supercomputing infrastructure for AI training and inference. The pledge signing places Lambda among infrastructure operators publicly addressing concerns that surging AI compute demand could raise electricity costs for households and businesses near data center sites.
