Lytx Webinar Tackles Broker Liability Fallout From Supreme Court Ruling

San Diego – October 06, 2026 -- Lytx Inc. will host a live webinar on Oct. 27 examining how the Supreme Court's unanimous ruling in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II is reshaping broker-carrier relationships by exposing brokers to state-law negligent-selection claims.

Supreme Court ruling opens brokers to new liability exposure

The decision in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II allows brokers to face state-law claims tied to negligent carrier selection, prompting brokers to tighten how they vet and retain carriers. Fleets may now face heightened scrutiny of safety records, public inspection data and compliance documentation as brokers reassess approval criteria.

Fireside chat set for Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. PT

Titled "Is Your Safety Record Broker Ready?", the webinar will convene legal, insurance and fleet safety experts to outline what carriers should expect and how to prepare. The session will be moderated by Shelley Bennett, Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Lytx.

"A strong safety record is more than proof of compliance, it is a competitive advantage," Bennett said, noting that carriers able to demonstrate safety commitment will be better positioned to protect freight access.

Panel features legal, insurance and carrier executives

Speakers include Shaun Carr, Senior Vice President of Transportation & Logistics at Marsh; Dylan West, Safety Compliance and Training Manager at Keystops LLC; Ida Sassani, Shareholder at Baker Donelson; and Meredith Priestley, Chief Legal Officer at Cargo Transporters. Discussion will cover what constitutes a defensible safety record and how leading fleets are adapting their documentation practices ahead of broker reviews.

Lytx, which supports more than 6.3 million drivers and thousands of fleets across over 90 countries, positions the session for carriers at any stage of evaluating their safety compliance posture following the ruling.
