Hsinchu – – September 19, 2026 -- M31 Technology has entered a technology collaboration with Rambus Inc. to integrate MIPI CSI and MIPI DSI controller technologies into its silicon-proven MIPI PHY portfolio, creating a complete MIPI subsystem offering for imaging and display applications.
M31 combines Rambus controllers with its existing PHY portfolio to eliminate multi-vendor integration risk
Previously, customers sourcing M31 PHYs had to separately procure MIPI CSI/DSI controllers and manage cross-vendor integration themselves. The new collaboration lets M31 deliver both controller and PHY layers as a single validated package, cutting verification cycles and shortening time-to-market for camera and display interface designs.
Global interface IP market is projected to hit $5.4 billion by 2029
Demand for MIPI interfaces is expanding across smartphones, automotive ADAS cameras, multi-display cockpit systems, and AI edge devices as these markets shift toward higher resolution and multi-display architectures. Industry analysts cited by M31 project the global interface IP market will reach approximately $5.4 billion by 2029, with high-speed interface IP such as USB, PCIe, and MIPI serving as a primary growth driver within the broader semiconductor IP licensing sector.
M31 expects higher average contract value from subsystem-level licensing deals
By shifting from PHY-only licensing to complete subsystem contracts that bundle controllers, M31 anticipates the average total contract value of related engagements will rise compared with its previous PHY-only model. CEO Scott Chang said customers can now entrust complete MIPI interface design to M31 rather than integrating controllers and PHYs from separate vendors, reducing risks tied to cross-vendor development.
The expanded subsystem strategy targets M31's core growth verticals of automotive, smartphones, and AI edge computing, where multi-display cockpit systems and high-resolution camera arrays are increasing the complexity of interface IP integration.
