Hsinchu – October 06, 2026 -- MediaTek and subsidiary Airoha Technology are showcasing Wi-Fi 8 connectivity technology at Network X 2026 in Vienna, with the Filogic 8800 platform delivering nearly 100% higher system throughput and 50% lower power consumption in mixed-generation networks.
The tri-band flagship router platform is shortlisted for the Network X Awards 2026 "Best Indoor Connectivity Solution," reflecting MediaTek's push to commercialize Wi-Fi 8 ahead of broader industry rollout.
Filogic 8800 targets real-world networks running Wi-Fi 5 through Wi-Fi 8 simultaneously
Rather than optimizing for peak speed on a single new device, MediaTek's approach addresses coexistence: most home and enterprise networks cannot replace all hardware at once, leaving Wi-Fi 5, 6, 7 and 8 devices connected to the same network for extended periods. MediaTek's DSO+ technology extends dynamic bandwidth allocation to these heterogeneous environments, overcoming limitations of conventional DSO when legacy clients occupy the Primary Subband. In mixed-generation test environments, this lifts overall system throughput by nearly 100%.
A second technology, NPCA+, lets Wi-Fi 8 access points dynamically switch primary channels to avoid congestion while remaining fully compatible with Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 clients. In high-density environments with overlapping networks, NPCA+ improves throughput by roughly 80%.
AI-driven power management cuts energy use by up to 50%
MediaTek's AI-assisted power-saving technology adjusts transmission power based on user behavior and traffic patterns, reducing consumption by 33% under typical workloads. Disabling unused frequency bands further cuts total power consumption by up to 50% without degrading network performance.
AI diagnostics shrink repair times from hours to under a minute
For telecom operators, MediaTek's AI smart network diagnostics reduce Mean Time to Repair from approximately 2-4 hours to under one minute, while cutting field service truck rolls by 20%. The company frames these efficiency gains as direct reductions to operator OPEX.
Alan Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of MediaTek's Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit, said MediaTek is working closely with Airoha to integrate product portfolios and with global ecosystem partners to accelerate deployment of next-generation connectivity technologies for telecom operators, enterprises and consumers.
MediaTek and Airoha are exhibiting jointly at Booth K35 during Network X 2026, running October 13-15 at Messe Wien in Vienna, Austria.
