New York – October 12, 2026 -- Software Experts has named Melio the top accounts payable platform for flexible vendor payments among small businesses, citing a five-tier pricing structure that starts free and reaches $80 per month for unlimited ACH payments.
The review assessed invoice capture, payment approvals, vendor transactions, accounting synchronization and cash flow management. Software Experts said Melio links the main AP stages in one platform, so businesses no longer need separate spreadsheets, banking portals and manual reconciliation.
Melio claims customers save more than 15 hours a month on AP tasks
Melio uses optical character recognition to capture data from uploaded invoices, and bills can also be sent to a dedicated inbox. Vendor details, line items, amounts and due dates are entered automatically, and authorized users can correct them before approving payment. The company says the 15-hour monthly saving is an average based on internal data, company records and user surveys.
Melio supports payments to vendors in more than 80 countries
The platform handles ACH transfers, credit and debit cards, wires and paper checks. Faster options include same-day bank transfers, instant transfers, fast checks, overnight checks and same-day wires. International payments can go out in U.S. dollars or supported local currencies.
Melio lists a standard 2.9% fee for card-funded domestic payments, subject to the receiving method and other terms. The review noted that card rewards and payment timing benefits should be weighed against that fee and possible card interest.
Custom approval rules and accounting sync tie invoices to payment records
Approval workflows can be built around vendor, payment amount, employee role or other business rules, with multi-level review for higher-value transactions. Bills can be paid individually, scheduled, set as recurring or processed in batches. A mobile app lets authorized users review, approve, decline and send payments.
Contractor tools support W-9 collection and taxpayer information validation. Melio connects with Tax1099 for 1099 e-filing, though a separate Tax1099 account and fees may apply. The platform also includes Agent Mel, an AI assistant that answers questions about bills, vendors and payments.
Melio's paid plans run from $25 to $80 a month, with a custom Platinum tier
The free Go plan covers one user and five free ACH payments per month. It includes AI bill capture, a dedicated bills inbox, international payments, and card, wire or check options.
Core costs $25 per month, raises the free ACH allowance to 20, and adds QuickBooks Online and Xero sync, batch payments, custom approval workflows, W-9 collection and 1099 automation. Boost costs $55 per month, with 50 ACH payments, advanced user roles, QuickBooks Desktop sync and premium phone support.
Unlimited costs $80 per month, removes ACH and seat limits, and adds NetSuite sync. A custom-priced Platinum plan targets high-volume businesses, and annual billing lowers the monthly cost on paid tiers. Additional ACH payments beyond a plan's allowance cost $0.50 each, while card, check, wire, expedited and international payments carry separate fees depending on the plan.
Software Experts positions the product for U.S. small and midsize businesses that want AP automation without the overhead of an enterprise system.
