Sapphire optics resist fluorine exposure and extreme thermal swings
The optics operate across a range of -200°C to +1,600°C depending on configuration and remain impervious to fast-moving fluids, particles, and most chemicals, including fluorine at temperatures up to 300°C. This chemical and thermal resilience makes them suitable for harsh industrial environments where standard optical materials degrade.
Mohs 9 hardness places sapphire optics second only to diamond
Meller Sapphire Optics can be fabricated in diameters from 0.25 inches to 6.0 inches and up to 1.5 inches thick. Surface finishes range from 60-40 to 40-20 scratch-dig, with flatness held to 0.5 fringes of HeNe and parallelism from 20 to 2 arc-seconds.
Custom geometries support specialized mounting requirements
The company offers various shapes, sizes, and opening styles, including stepped edges, elliptical edge shaping, holes, slots, and wedges for mounting. Anti-reflective coatings are also available.
