San Francisco – September 22, 2026 -- Minerva University secured three No. 1 rankings in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list, marking its debut appearance in the annual survey.
Minerva tops 73 institutions in the Regional Colleges West category
The university ranked No. 1 overall, tied for No. 1 among private institutions, and No. 1 in Best Value Schools within the Regional Colleges West segment. U.S. News evaluated the category using up to 13 factors, including graduation rates, first-year retention, peer assessment, faculty resources and financial resources.
Academic metrics underpin the ranking outcome
Minerva reports a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio, with 87% of classes enrolling fewer than 20 students. The university's four-year graduation rate stands at 79%.
President Magee links the recognition to Minerva's teaching model
"These rankings are meaningful because they signal that Minerva's model is working at a time when higher education needs new approaches," said Mike Magee, president of Minerva University. He credited faculty and staff for the outcome, describing a model built on small, active seminars and real-world projects delivered across multiple cities.
The result follows a string of other 2027 accolades
Minerva was named the world's most innovative university by the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) for the fifth consecutive year. Niche awarded the university an A+ overall grade in its 2027 rankings and ranked it the No. 2 hardest college to gain admission to in the United States.
The broader U.S. News survey covered over 1,700 institutions
The 2027 edition assessed more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities using up to 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate outcomes.
