SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 8, 2025 – Invacare is proud to announce the launch of its global fundraiser, Move For Mobility 2025, which aims to provide life-changing wheelchairs to individuals in need around the world. The initiative brings together Invacare employees, ambassadors, clients, and partners in a worldwide effort to raise awareness and funds for the Free Wheelchair Mission, an organization committed to delivering wheelchairs at no cost to people with disabilities in remote communities.
A Strong Partnership with Free Wheelchair Mission
Since its inception, Invacare has partnered with Free Wheelchair Mission, a humanitarian non-profit organization, to help deliver mobility solutions to underserved populations globally. This year marks the sixth year of this partnership, with Invacare contributing its engineering, testing, and distribution expertise to help create durable and effective wheelchairs.
Geoff Purtill, President and CEO of Invacare, shared his personal experience of the campaign’s impact, saying, “In 2024, I had the privilege of personally delivering wheelchairs to the Dominican Republic. Seeing the impact up close was incredibly moving. This year, we’re aiming even higher—uniting employees, ambassadors, customers, and partners across the globe to help more people access something as basic, yet life-changing, as a wheelchair.”
The 2025 Campaign’s Goals and Impact
The Move For Mobility campaign has already achieved remarkable success, raising $28,442 last year, which provided 294 wheelchairs to those in need. This year, Invacare is setting its sights even higher with a goal to surpass previous donations and increase its global reach.
Each €88 donation will fund one wheelchair, and every contribution—large or small—will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who lack the resources to afford this vital mobility aid. The initiative is a testament to Invacare’s commitment to making mobility accessible to all, regardless of their financial circumstances.
How It Works
Move For Mobility is a global initiative involving participants from across the globe. Employees, partners, and ambassadors are encouraged to raise funds through physical activity, including walking, running, cycling, and other movement-based challenges. By getting active and supporting the cause, they are raising awareness and engaging their communities in the importance of mobility for people with disabilities.
The campaign not only aims to provide wheelchairs but also to raise awareness about the challenges faced by millions of people worldwide who need a wheelchair but cannot afford one. According to Nuka Hart, Chief Executive of Free Wheelchair Mission, “Around 80 million people worldwide need a wheelchair, but most can’t afford one. Invacare’s support—especially their engineering and testing expertise—has elevated our chairs’ durability and effectiveness.”
