New York – September 29, 2026 -- MSIG USA has appointed Oscar Aguilar as head of excess and surplus property, tasking him with building out the insurer's E&S property platform for brokers navigating complex commercial risk.
Aguilar arrives with two decades of property underwriting leadership across retail and wholesale markets
Aguilar joins from Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he most recently served as senior vice president and national manager of major accounts property, shared and layered, after previously leading the carrier's U.S. retail property division. He spent six years at Ironshore Insurance managing wholesale property across the Western and South Central regions, and earlier held the senior vice president role at Brit Insurance, where he led E&S property underwriting and built a profitable portfolio. His career also includes underwriting and leadership positions at Maiden Reinsurance North America, GMAC RE, SRO Napa, St. Paul Companies and Sherwood Insurance, spanning retail and wholesale distribution, primary and excess property, facultative reinsurance, and middle-market and large commercial accounts.

As head of excess and surplus property, Aguilar will lead strategy and development of MSIG USA's E&S property business, focusing on disciplined underwriting, portfolio performance and sustainable growth. He will work with underwriting and distribution leadership to build capabilities responsive to broker and client needs, leveraging data and technology for decision-making and execution. Aguilar holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from California Coast University.
