Bridgetown, Barbados – September 25, 2026 -- NCL GT20 Canada, the country's professional T20 franchise tournament, will stage its 2026 edition in St. Vincent and the Grenadines during the October-November window, marking a one-year departure from Canadian soil before the league returns to Canada in 2027.
Cricket West Indies secures direct franchise investment under new governance framework
Under a collaborative structure between Cricket Canada and Cricket West Indies (CWI), CWI will handle governance, compliance and regulatory coordination for the 2026 edition while also holding a direct franchise investment stake. The arrangement is designed to build sustainable sporting and commercial connections across the Americas rather than relocate the tournament permanently.
Organizers frame the move as a bridge, not a relocation, of the Canadian league
Arvinder Khosa, President of Cricket Canada, said the tournament remains fundamentally Canadian, with the Caribbean staging intended to connect players, administrators, fans and commercial partners across both regions. He said the relationships built in 2026 are meant to travel back to Canada when the league resumes there in 2027.
Chris Dehring, CEO of Cricket West Indies, said the collaboration allows the region to showcase itself as one of world cricket's key territories while supporting the continued development of Canadian cricket. He noted CWI, as the only ICC full member in the hemisphere, sees value in forging relationships with ICC Associate Members across the region.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines commits to hosting the historic Caribbean staging
Hon. Kaschaka Cupid, the nation's Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries, confirmed the government agreed to host the tournament, calling major sporting events a core part of her mandate.
The October-November window is expected to combine international players, established Caribbean cricketers, Canadian talent and emerging North American players on a single platform. Organizers said the event is also intended to drive international visibility, fan engagement and economic activity for the host nation. Schedule and participating team details will be announced later.
