Nelnet Adds Apple, H.I.G. Capital Executives to 10-Member Board

Lincoln, Neb. – September 19, 2026 -- Nelnet, Inc. (NYSE: NNI) has appointed Angie Klein and Ed Pallesen to its board of directors, expanding the panel to 10 members.

Apple executive Klein joins after nearly 25 years at Verizon

Klein currently serves as head of U.S. consumer channels for Apple, overseeing sales and distribution partnerships with retailers including Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, Target and Costco. She spent nearly 25 years at Verizon, holding roles as chief content officer, senior vice president of growth marketing, and inaugural president of Verizon Value, where she led a multi-brand prepaid portfolio serving millions of customers. Klein will sit on Nelnet's Nominating and Corporate Governance, People Development and Compensation, and Compliance committees.

Pallesen brings infrastructure investing expertise from H.I.G. Capital and Goldman Sachs

Pallesen has more than 25 years of financial services experience, including time at Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. Since 2019, he has served as managing director and global head of infrastructure at H.I.G. Capital, a global middle-market private alternatives investment firm, with investment focus areas including digital infrastructure and renewable energy. He will join Nelnet's Nominating and Corporate Governance and Risk and Finance committees.

Executive chairman Dunlap cites broadened boardroom perspectives

"Both have demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout their careers and bring distinct experiences that will broaden and strengthen the perspectives represented in our boardroom," said Mike Dunlap, executive chairman of Nelnet. Klein holds marketing and advertising degrees from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, while Pallesen earned degrees from Harvard College, Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and Harvard Law School.
