Netceed contributes to the ESG goals of network operators with its innovative Microfocus ALIUS ODF solutions

Submitted by J. Mikhail on

10 May 2024 – Netceed, a global company specialized in distribution, logistics, technical engineering, and product design for the broadband industry, announces ALIUS, a new addition to its Microfocus product line. Microfocus was introduced in 2005, consisting of modular blocks to build an end-to-end fiber optic network, and offering a 25-year functional system warranty for the installer and operator.

With ALIUS, Netceed has developed a high quality according to RoHS 2011, IEC 61300 ODF panels to be deployed in prefab concrete or street cabinets so called Points of Presence (PoPs) and street cabinets, suited for standard 19” or ETSI racks (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). The company is thus responding to rising demand for ODF solutions throughout EMEA. The Microfocus ALIUS ODF module is now available as a pre-assembled panel to simplify connections and ensure sustainable management of fibers for installation and maintenance in a Point of Presence.

Flexibility and efficiency in use

The ALIUS modules are characterized by their ability to tilt and offer the option of mounting the hinges on the left or right, thus enabling flexible adaptation on site. The lightweight panels are available both as full 1U splice/patch v and pre-cable version with 48 or 96 LC/APC or SC/APC grade B1 ports and pigtails, which simplify the management of fibers and patch cords. In developing the products, Netceed has placed particular emphasis on clean fiber routing and easy access to pigtails, adapters and splice cassettes.

Supporting ESG goals

The new Microfocus ALIUS ODF panels actively support network operators in achieving their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) goals by being 89.76% recyclable for the splice/patch version and 66.20% recyclable for the pre-cabled version. In addition to this, the modular design of ALIUS allows for easy replacement and upgrading of patch panels, splice cassettes and hinges, eliminating the need to throw them away and allowing them to be expanded for future additions.

The Microfocus ALIUS panels are designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 14001 standards and comply with RoHs 2011, IEC 61300. "ALIUS supports the end-to-end approach of Netceed's Microfocus kit with solutions specifically designed to meet the requirement for sustainable modules. In designing the ODF panels together with our installers, we have placed great emphasis on details that have a significant impact on installation efficiency and network operation. These include, for example, removable front panels for easy patching or a choice of color coding according to DIN VDE 0888, TIA/EIA-598 or customer color coding specifications," explains Peter van den Heuvel, Product Technology Manager at Netceed.
