Trebinje – – September 22, 2026 -- The newly completed Trebinje Hospital in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents a $75.4 million (€65 million / ≈128 million BAM) investment by the Government of Republika Srpska, marking the largest healthcare infrastructure project in eastern Herzegovina's recent history.
Facility spans 17,500 m2 with 223 beds and six operating rooms
Located in the Pridvorci neighborhood of Trebinje, a city of roughly 32,000 residents, the hospital was completed at the end of 2025. The 17,500 m2 facility includes advanced diagnostic equipment such as MRI and CT scanners, along with fully equipped emergency and intensive care units.
Roof slab spanning 6,500 m2 uses crystalline concrete admixture
The building's core structure relies on a reinforced concrete frame with modern thermal insulation. The 22 cm thick monolithic reinforced concrete roof slab, covering approximately 6,500 m2, was enhanced with PENETRON ADMIX, a crystalline admixture designed to provide permanent waterproofing from within the concrete matrix rather than through surface-applied membranes. Local contractor Herc Gradnja carried out construction of the roof slab.
Facility to serve cross-border patients from Montenegro and Croatia
Beyond serving Trebinje and surrounding communities, the hospital is expected to draw patients from neighboring Montenegro and Croatia, introducing medical services and technologies previously unavailable in the region and reducing the need for long-distance travel to urban centers for treatment.
