Odyssey Energy Raises $74M to Scale Solar Financing in Emerging Markets

Boulder, Colorado – September 04, 2026 -- Odyssey Energy Solutions has secured $74 million in new financing, combining $27 million in equity with $47 million in debt, to expand its platform financing distributed renewable energy projects across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

New investors join round to fund solar and battery procurement infrastructure

The equity tranche drew new backers Broadscale Group, FMO, and Al Mada Ventures, alongside existing investors Union Square Ventures, Equal Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Twelve Below, FJ Labs, MCJ, and Transition Ventures. Debt financing came from British International Investment, BIO, the Facility for Energy Inclusion via Cygnum Capital, and the Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund via TripleJump.

Platform connects 6,000 solar installers with financiers in 50-plus countries

Odyssey's platform links more than 6,000 solar installers and EPC firms with financiers and equipment suppliers, facilitating access to $3.6 billion in capital for distributed energy projects to date. Its procurement platform, launched in 2024, has unlocked 1.5 GW of projects by aggregating equipment orders and embedding supply chain credit for small and medium-sized EPCs.

India platform usage grew 205% over past 12 months amid manufacturing shifts

Odyssey's India operations expanded 205% over the past year, driven by new domestic manufacturing requirements for solar components and rising electricity demand from data center construction tied to AI compute growth. In Nigeria, diesel prices rose more than 93% between February and April 2026 following supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, according to figures cited by the company, strengthening the economics of distributed solar against diesel generators that the International Finance Corporation says supply more power in the country than grid-connected plants.

CEO says funding gap has historically excluded pre-construction capital

"The focus of financing for distributed renewable energy has historically been on post-construction capital," said Emily McAteer, co-founder and CEO of Odyssey Energy Solutions, noting that thousands of small and medium EPCs lack working capital to procure equipment and complete construction before customer payments arrive.

Total capital raised reaches $94 million since 2023 Series A

The new round follows Odyssey's $15 million Series A announced in May 2023, bringing total capital raised to $94 million. The company is also among the inaugural portfolio partners of Multiplier, an advisory firm co-founded by Jigar Shah and Jonathan Silver, both former directors of the U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office.
