Intel, Adelean and Sidecar join as General Members strengthening technical direction
The Foundation announced three new General Members -- Adelean, Intel, and Sidecar -- who will now engage with working groups and help guide technical initiatives. Intel's membership extends its existing open source contributions to OpenSearch, which have focused on hardware-level acceleration to optimize performance.
Seacom and Sidecar become certified Long Term Support providers
Seacom and Sidecar have formally joined the vendor directory as certified LTS providers, delivering production-ready software stability, extended maintenance windows and predictable upgrade paths under the Foundation's established LTS program.
Contributor base grows 31% as Latin America leads regional gains
OpenSearch project contributors increased 31% year-over-year overall. Regional growth included a 43% rise in Latin America, 33% in Japan, 16% in India and 10% in Europe.
Research finds 71% of organizations prioritize vendor-independent infrastructure
New research from the OpenSearch Software Foundation and Linux Foundation Research found that 71% of organizations consider deploying data infrastructure independently of a specific vendor a strategic priority. Bianca Lewis, executive director of the OpenSearch Software Foundation, said proprietary software restricts flexibility and increases costs amid accelerating data demands.
Seacom CEO Stefano Pampaloni said the LTS certification recognizes the company's investment in the OpenSearch project since its outset, calling it a milestone toward giving organizations the confidence needed for mission-critical environments.
