Osaka, Japan Selected to Host the 24th Asia Pacific Conference on Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) in 2026

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – July 30, 2024 – The Asia Pacific Chapter of the International Council on Hotel,Restaurant & Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) has officially announced Osaka, Japan, as the host city for the 24th APacCHRIE Conference and 17th APacCHRIE Youth Conference, marking the first time the prestigious event will be held in Japan.

Following a competitive bidding process, Osaka was selected at the APacCHRIE board meeting held in Seoul, Korea,in May 2024. The decision underscores Osaka's burgeoning reputation as a hub for tourism and hospitality innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.

"This is a significant milestone for APacCHRIE and a testament to Osaka's growing prominence in the tourism and hospitality sectors," said Professor Keiko Nishimoto of Ritsumeikan University, an APacCHRIE board member and a leading figure in the conference bid. "We are confident that Osaka's vibrant cultural heritage, coupled with its modern infrastructure and commitment to academic excellence, will provide a stimulating environment for delegates."

A Platform for Academic Exchange and Industry Collaboration

The APacCHRIE Conference is a premier platform for academics, students, and industry professionals to engage in cutting-edge research, exchange knowledge, and foster collaboration in the dynamic field of hospitality and tourism.The 2026 conference in Osaka is expected to attract over 350 participants from 17 countries, offering a unique opportunity for networking and knowledge dissemination.

The conference program will feature keynote addresses from leading experts, panel discussions, workshops, and presentations on a wide range of topics relevant to the hospitality and tourism industry. Additionally, the APacCHRIE Youth Conference will run concurrently, providing a platform for young scholars and students to present their research and network with peers and industry leaders.

Osaka's selection as host city aligns with its ambitious plans for the tourism sector. The city is gearing up to host the World Expo in 2025 and is slated to open an Integrated Resort in 2030.
