Outpost Unveils Space Factories, Orbital Manufacturing-as-a-Service Platform

Los Angeles – September 24, 2026 -- Outpost Technologies Corporation has launched Space Factories, a standardized orbital manufacturing platform that lets companies produce goods in microgravity and return them to Earth without building their own spacecraft, reentry system, or recovery operation.

Outpost turns bespoke orbital manufacturing into a shared industrial service

Historically, every attempt to manufacture products in orbit -- from optical fibers to pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and advanced crystals -- has required a one-of-a-kind spacecraft solving power, thermal, containment, safety, and return challenges from scratch. Space Factories replaces that model with a reusable, modular platform: customers specify a manufacturing process rather than design and build an entire mission architecture.

CarryAll spacecraft anchors a modular architecture with one customized layer

The platform is built on Outpost's reusable free-flying CarryAll spacecraft, which handles orbital transport, power, communications, and Earth return. A separable Space Factory container manages production, pressurization, thermal control, data, and safety interfaces, while only the innermost manufacturing module is tailored to a customer's specific process. Recovered equipment can be inspected, refurbished, and reflown across missions, allowing capacity to scale with demand.

Outpost will manufacture its own StarFiber optical fiber as the platform's first product

Outpost is validating the system with StarFiber, a next-generation metal fluoride optical fiber that achieves dramatically lower signal loss than the silica fiber used in today's data and telecommunications networks. Metal fluoride fibers are difficult to manufacture at high quality on Earth because gravity introduces defects during production; microgravity offers a path to the quality level the material's performance promises. StarFiber's formulation is radiation-hardened, targeting satellite and defense applications, and its production run will demonstrate the full Space Factory cycle from orbital manufacturing to recovered product on the ground.

"No company should have to become a spacecraft company just to find out whether their product is better when it's made in space,
