Panasonic Automotive Wins SBTi Validation for 1.5°C Climate Targets

Yokohama – September 12, 2026 -- Panasonic Automotive Systems Co., Ltd. and its group companies have secured validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

SBTi confirms Panasonic Automotive's emissions targets meet Paris Agreement 1.5°C threshold

The Yokohama-based Tier 1 automotive supplier, led by President Masashi Nagayasu, received the validation from SBTi, a body jointly operated by CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the World Wide Fund for Nature. The initiative certifies corporate GHG reduction plans against Paris Agreement benchmarks.

Group has maintained net-zero CO2 at major global sites since 2023

Panasonic Automotive Systems has treated climate change as a core management issue, running energy conservation programs and expanding renewable energy use across its operations. The company states it has held net-zero CO2 emissions at its principal worldwide sites since 2023.

Supplier collaboration and low-carbon products form next phase of decarbonization push

To meet the newly validated targets, the group plans to deepen energy conservation measures, scale renewable energy adoption, expand low-carbon product and service offerings, and strengthen collaboration with suppliers. The company frames these steps as efforts to cut GHG emissions across its entire value chain in support of a sustainable mobility sector.

Company will rebrand as Mobitera Inc. starting April 1, 2027

Panasonic Automotive Systems, which supplies infotainment and other proprietary technologies to automakers in Japan and abroad through subsidiaries in eight countries, will change its corporate name and brand to Mobitera Inc. effective April 1, 2027.
