Gastonia, N.C. – October 01, 2026 -- Parkdale, Incorporated's subsidiary, Parkdale Advanced Materials, Inc., has acquired full ownership of CiCLO® technology, a patented biodegradable textile ingredient aimed at reducing microplastic fiber persistence in the environment.
Parkdale expands CiCLO beyond apparel into nonwovens, geotextiles and filtration
CiCLO technology has an established presence in apparel, home and hospitality textiles, sold through brands including Target, Walmart, Costco, Black Diamond, Stella McCartney, IHG Hotels, Billabong, Hanes and McDonald's. Parkdale now plans to push adoption into adjacent synthetic-fiber markets, including nonwovens for industrial and hygiene products, geotextiles, filtration, insulation and furnishings.
Technology integrates into polyester and nylon during fiber manufacturing
CiCLO is embedded into polyester and nylon fibers during manufacturing, creating pathways that allow naturally occurring microorganisms to mineralize the polymer in biologically active environments. The technology has been tested against ASTM and ISO standardized methods across seawater, soil, wastewater sludge and biologically active landfill conditions, while maintaining manufacturing efficiency, dyeability, durability and recyclability. It integrates into virgin, recycled, bio-based and textile-to-textile feedstocks as well as natural-fiber blends.
Parkdale leverages century-old manufacturing scale to commercialize the technology
Parkdale, founded in 1916 and headquartered in Gastonia, North Carolina, operates an extensive manufacturing network across the United States, Mexico, Central America and South America through Parkdale Mills, the Western Hemisphere's leading manufacturer of spun and filament yarns. That yarn manufacturing infrastructure, technical expertise and R&D capability now provide Parkdale Advanced Materials a platform to scale CiCLO from concept to commercial production.
"We believe CiCLO fibers have the potential to address microplastic fiber persistence at meaningful scale,
