Valley View – October 12, 2026 -- Peak Nanosystems has closed a further $25 million investment from Squadron Capital to fund larger-scale production of optical lenses and development-scale films for capacitors and specialty film applications.
All applications rely on Peak's proprietary nanolayer extrusion technology. The company is the parent of Peak Nano Optics and Peak Nano Films.
Peak Nano Optics has invested over $30 million in an Ohio foundry
The Optics unit has put more than $30 million into a development and production facility near Cleveland, Ohio. The site was commissioned in Q4 2020 and held its official grand opening in July 2021. Peak describes the facility as a first-of-its-kind Optics Foundry and the most advanced optical design and manufacturing facility in the world.
The optics business traces back to 2016, when Peak Nanosystems began work to commercialize GRIN optics. It later acquired nanolayer process technology from PolymerPlus after a partnership with that company. Peak Nano Optics continues to develop the technology for key military and industrial applications.
Peak Nano Films commissions a new capacitor development line near Cleveland
Peak Nano Films has made what the company calls significant investments to scale up nanolayer technology in capacitor films. It has recently commissioned a new capacitor development film line near Cleveland to support product launches planned for 2021-2022.
Chad Lewis, president of Peak Nanosystems, said the company also expects further opportunities in specialty films that use recycled material.
Management and investor target broader nanolayer adoption
CEO Jim Welsh said the additional capital will let the company scale the technology across many market segments. He said the 2016 optics investment has since widened into the films business, giving Peak access to high-performance film markets.
Dave Pelizzon, president of Squadron Capital, said Peak's technical expertise and manufacturing processes should lead to much broader use of the technology in optical and electrical capacitance applications.
