AKASA Launches Autonomous AI Coding Covering 10% of U.S. Discharges

South San Francisco, Calif. – October 02, 2026 -- AKASA has launched an autonomous AI platform for inpatient medical coding and clinical documentation integrity (CDI), expanding beyond its existing prebill review tools after inpatient volume processed by the company grew nearly 6x over the past year.
AKASA's health system customers now cover 10% of U.S. inpatient discharges
The company's customer base collectively represents more than $180 billion in aggregate net patient revenue and roughly 10% of all U.S. inpatient discharges. The growth has been driven by adoption of AKASA's existing AI-powered prebill review products, which the company says created the volume and performance data needed to move into fully autonomous coding.
