Toronto – September 24, 2026 -- Quarterhill Inc. (TSX: QTRH) (OTCQX: QTRHF) has secured TOPAS 2505B registration for its TMB-13X multilane intersection radar, clearing the mandatory hurdle for deploying traffic signal detection technology in the United Kingdom.
TOPAS registration opens UK traffic signal market to Quarterhill's radar system
The approval allows Quarterhill to sell the TMB-13X to UK traffic signal controller manufacturers, system integrators and transport authorities. The product is now available for order.
Above-ground radar targets replacement of in-road inductive loop sensors
The TMB-13X uses up to nine configurable virtual detection loops to monitor vehicles and cyclists across multiple lanes based on speed, direction, movement and presence. It features a four-meter blind zone and a browser-based configuration interface accessible via Wi-Fi, designed to cut roadwork, installation costs and traffic disruption compared with traditional in-road sensors.
Transport for London alone operates 6,400 signal sites needing detection technology
Transport for London runs approximately 6,400 traffic signal sites, including about 4,000 signalized junctions and 1,500 pedestrian crossings, supported by more than 16,000 traffic detectors, according to Transport for London data cited by the company.
