Boston – September 22, 2026 -- QuEra Computing and Hewlett Packard Enterprise have agreed to integrate neutral-atom, fault-tolerant quantum computing systems with the HPE Cray supercomputing platform, giving enterprises and national laboratories an on-premises route to quantum capabilities alongside cloud access.

QuEra and HPE target hybrid quantum-classical workflows for on-premise deployment

The collaboration will let HPC centers run classical computation on Cray systems while offloading select subproblems to QuEra's quantum hardware within the same facility. The companies are pursuing integrated testbeds, hybrid algorithm co-design, software interoperability, and system-level performance benchmarking ahead of deployment.

QuEra and HPE have worked together since 2025, and HPE showcased a magic-state demonstration featuring QuEra's technology at HPE Discover Las Vegas 2026.

Plans include a future gigaquop-class on-premise system

The on-premise track includes plans for a potential gigaquop system integrated with HPE Cray infrastructure, aimed at organizations with sovereignty or data-residency requirements. This runs parallel to QuEra's cloud pathway through a major cloud provider, where Libra -- QuEra's first fault-tolerant quantum computer with more than 256 logical qubits and megaquop-class performance targeting roughly one million reliable logical operations -- is slated for cloud availability in 2028, with a gigaquop system to follow.

Executives frame cloud and on-premise access as complementary, not competing

"Cloud access and on-premises deployment are complementary paths. They are different answers to the question of where a system resides," said Yuval Boger, Chief Commercial Officer at QuEra Computing.

Dr. Masoud Mohseni, Senior Distinguished Technologist and Director of HPE Quantum, said the partnership aims to bring fault-tolerant quantum capabilities into HPC environments as a path from today's supercomputers to hybrid quantum-classical systems.

The initiative aligns with the U.S. Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, a national platform combining AI, supercomputing, quantum systems, and scientific instruments across government, industry, academia, and philanthropy.
