Reston, Va. – September 22, 2026 -- Rafael Systems Global Sustainment, LLC (RSGS), a U.S.-based subsidiary of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, has secured an agreement through the Aviation & Missile Technology Consortium (AMTC) to advance U.S. qualification of the SPIKE SR shoulder-launched, EO-guided missile system.
RSGS to lead U.S. qualification and adaptation of SPIKE SR for American forces
Under the agreement, RSGS and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems will handle adaptation, integration, and testing of the SPIKE SR to align the system with U.S. military requirements. The work targets a lightweight, man-portable precision missile capability for dismounted forces operating in contested environments.
SPIKE SR joins a missile family already deployed across 46 countries
SPIKE SR is part of the broader SPIKE missile family currently fielded by 46 countries, including 22 NATO members. The fire-and-forget system is built for small-unit formations, offering compact form factors and rapid target engagement for close-combat scenarios.
RSGS CEO frames the award as a step toward U.S. warfighter integration
"This award represents an important step in advancing the SPIKE SR capability for U.S. warfighters," said LTG (Ret.) Joe Anderson, CEO of RSGS. Anderson added that the effort reinforces RSGS' commitment to adapting combat-proven technologies to meet U.S. operational requirements, building on the SPIKE family's existing operational heritage.
