Istanbul – September 12, 2026 -- Turkish construction group Rönesans has secured a place among the world's top 50 international contractors for the 11th consecutive year, according to Engineering News-Record's 2026 "Top 250 International Contractors" list.
ENR ranking measures overseas revenue, not global scale
The ENR list ranks firms by revenue generated outside their home markets, a metric that reflects a company's ability to win and execute projects internationally rather than its overall size. Rönesans first appeared on the list in 2006 at position 86 and has since climbed into the top 50 bracket, a run it has now sustained for over a decade.
Company has generated $50 billion from international projects since 1993
Since launching international operations in 1993, Rönesans has completed more than 1,000 projects across roughly 40 countries, generating $50 billion in international project revenue to date. The firm has partnered with 3,500 Turkish manufacturers and subcontractors on these projects and deployed 28,853 Turkish professionals abroad, including 3,500 engineers and architects, with total project workforce reaching 271,888 people.
Portfolio spans Europe's tallest tower to the Netherlands' longest tunnel
Rönesans' international project list includes the Lakhta Center, Europe's tallest building; the Gotthard Base Tunnel beneath the Swiss Alps; the Gaasperdammertunnel in the Netherlands, that country's longest road tunnel; and a gas-to-gasoline production plant in Turkmenistan.
Turkish supply chain exported over $2 billion in goods and services in a decade
Through its network of over 3,500 Turkish manufacturers and subcontractors, Rönesans has procured and exported more than $2 billion in goods and services over the past ten years, giving Turkish firms a channel into new markets while giving Turkish engineers and managers hands-on experience on major global projects.
European acquisitions built out the contractor's regional footprint
Rönesans took a 10% stake in Austrian construction group PORR in 2009, followed by the acquisition of an Alpine Bau subsidiary in 2013, German engineering firm Heitkamp in 2014, and Dutch contractor Ballast Nedam in 2015. Under Rönesans' restructuring, Ballast Nedam returned to profitability within three years.
Chairman emeritus cites resilience through pandemic, wars and financing shifts
Dr. Erman Ilıcak, chairman emeritus of Rönesans Holding, said the company navigated a pandemic, regional wars, an energy crisis and shifting financing conditions across its markets in Europe, the Middle East, the CIS and Africa over the past 11 years. "Eleven years is a long time to hold your position," Ilıcak said, noting the firm expanded into new countries and built new capabilities while maintaining its 11-year streak on the ENR list.
