Boston – September 24, 2026 -- RS2 Healthcare Partners has completed an investment in KMM Group, a Hatboro, Pennsylvania-based precision contract manufacturer for the medical device industry, marking the Boston private equity firm's first new platform deal since narrowing its focus exclusively to lower middle-market healthcare investing.
RS2 names industry veteran J. Mark King as KMM's new CEO
J. Mark King, who brings more than 30 years of medical device industry experience, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of KMM. King previously served as President and CEO of Tegra Medical, a medical device contract manufacturer and former RS2 portfolio company, and has also acted as an advisor to KMM prior to the deal.
"I am honored and excited to continue building on KMM's momentum," King said, citing a long working history with RS2's principals.
Founders shift into technology and operations roles as deal closes
KMM co-founder John Shegda will transition to Chief Technology Officer, leading engineering and technology strategy. Co-founder Eric Wilhelm has been named Executive Vice President, Business Transformation & Organizational Capability, overseeing operational excellence and scalable growth.
Craig Stern, Co-Managing Partner at RS2, cited KMM's "blue-chip customer base" and specialized manufacturing capabilities as central to the deal. Partner Patrick Furlong said the founder-owned company fits a sector RS2 has targeted for years, following the firm's rebrand earlier in 2026 from Riverside Partners to focus solely on healthcare.
Deal follows RS2's strategic pivot to lower middle-market healthcare
Founded in 1989, RS2 Healthcare Partners has raised $1.6 billion in total capital commitments since inception. Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP provided legal counsel to RS2 on the transaction. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
