Shanghai Electric Debuts Three ASEAN Energy Transition Solutions

Jakarta – September 23, 2026 -- Shanghai Electric (SEHK: 02727, SSE: 601727) presented three energy transition solutions at Enlit Asia 2026, held Sept. 22-24 in Jakarta and attended by more than 11,000 delegates and 280 exhibitors across the ASEAN power sector.

Shanghai Electric targets thermal power decarbonization with hydrogen-blend gas turbines

The High-Efficiency Power & Decarbonization solution covers modular steam turbines for H- and F-class combined-cycle systems, heavy-duty gas turbines capable of running on up to 30% hydrogen blending, and coal-fired power retrofit packages aimed at cutting fuel consumption and lowering carbon intensity in markets such as Indonesia.

Grid resilience package pairs synchronous condensers with multi-technology storage for island networks

The Grid Modernization & Resilience Upgrade solution combines synchronous condensers, flywheels, multi-technology energy storage and solar-storage power pods to address frequency regulation, voltage stability and renewable integration on island grids, with the pods designed as plug-and-play emergency power sources for remote sites and critical loads.

Jilin Taonan project sets global green methanol bunkering record at 8,000 tons

Shanghai Electric's Power-to-X Integrated Solutions, built on its Jilin Taonan project spanning wind, solar, green hydrogen, biomass gasification and green methanol synthesis, have completed 8,000 tons of green methanol bunkering, a global single-bunkering record. Phase II, launched Aug. 20, 2026, targets annual output of 200,000 tons of green methanol and 10,000 tons of sustainable aviation fuel. The company is extending this fuel-production model to ASEAN shipping and aviation markets.

Existing ASEAN deployments include coal, gas and renewable projects in Indonesia and Malaysia

Shanghai Electric's regional footprint includes the Indonesia Pelabuhan Ratu 3 x 350 MW coal-fired power station, a renewable energy plant in Selangor, Malaysia, and the Samalaju 500 MW-class combined-cycle gas power project in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Company briefs PLN and academics on fuel diversification during Jakarta roadshows

At the event, Shanghai Electric delivered a technical presentation on heavy-duty gas turbine technology for clean, efficient power generation and hosted roadshows with representatives from PLN, Indonesia's national electricity company, alongside local customers and academics to discuss fuel diversification and power-system development.
