Shanghai Stages D.C. Cultural Event, Pitches US Firms on Investment Ties

Washington – October 04, 2026 -- Shanghai Media Group staged a cultural and investment outreach event on the National Mall on October 3, 2026, drawing nearly 100 political, business, technology and cultural figures from China and the United States to promote the city as an international economic and trade hub.

Event doubles as investment pitch under China International Import Expo banner

Dubbed "Future Resonance — ShanghaiEye Night," the gathering formed part of the "Shanghai Let's Meet" city promotion campaign and a wider China-U.S. people-to-people exchange series. Shanghai Media Group President Song Jiongming and Maryland Secretary of State Susan Lee delivered remarks, with Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng also in attendance.

Dialogue session targets U.S. corporate partners

An evening session titled "Invest in China for a Win-Win Future" brought together roughly 100 guests from politics, business, technology and the arts to discuss Shanghai's development as an international economic, financial, trade, shipping and technological innovation center. The session referenced the China International Import Expo and framed Shanghai's business environment as a platform for cooperation between Chinese and U.S. companies.

Daytime carnival showcases 50 vendor stalls and industrial symbols

Earlier, the National Mall hosted a carnival with 50 stalls featuring international cuisine, a "Shanghai Charm" exhibition area and intangible cultural heritage displays. Exhibits included a model of the C919 passenger jet, a replica of the Oriental Pearl Tower, and VR headsets supplied by the Shanghai Museum for virtual tours of the city. Legacy brands White Rabbit, Hero fountain pens and Lao Feng Xiang were on display alongside an IP SHANGHAI lenticular art exhibition.
